Eeeesh looks like the thumbnailer doesnt like GIF files. Uhh not sure what I can do to fix that lemme see.
There's limits on the pictures you can upload.
Oh jesus thats a HUGE gif file in terms of height and width, Going to guess thats why it failed. I think I can up the resource limits for the thumbnailer.
Also is the image i upload is this ok https://urlivewiki.com/wiki/File:Sexy_Neena_with_her_bikini_plate_armor.png
We may just need to delete these big gifs. Seriously, look at the Special:ListFiles right now and you'll see most of those gifs are super messed up. They're also not really necessary to have on the wiki. I know you want to upload all the fanart you can find, MrHealix, and while that's fine to extent that's not really what the wiki is for...
my bad i'm new with uploading images here
It's ok, you're new and you've been rushing to do as much as you can. However, in the future you should really take a second and look around the wiki to see if the thing you want to do has been addressed or ask someone about this stuff before you do it. The content that you're helping the wiki with is great, but it's also been a bit sloppy and as a result we've had to go back in later and clean it up a bit. If you're not sure about something like pictures or articles or whatever I would highly suggest asking someone about it before you go ahead and do it.
the problem with that is there is no body to contact here
Well in regards to the thumbnailer it shouldnt segfault in any case so thats a bug I will have to fix. Just going through all the options to see what I can do. If theres an error on the site feel free to create a topic on the admin to do in the future. If theres generic wiki questions you can ask on the articles talk page or head on over to the subreddit to talk to others in a more open forum.
That's just not true. I'm on on a daily basis, so are plenty of the other moderators. There's also plenty of non-moderator users that have been here for a while if absolutely no one is responding to you. You can also wait a day before you go ahead and do something. If you ask a question and don't get a response within 10 minutes that doesn't mean no one is going to get back to you. If you're unsure about uploading tons of fan art or creating new articles then you can ask and if they don't back to you by the next day then you can ask someone else and if they still don't get back to you then you can move on.
quick question can we re upload it when we can fix the gif problems
If it works and it's not a big pull on website resources then sure, but right now all of the files are messed up. I left the one Plornt is working on so he can fixed it, but the others didn't work at all.
That's because the file is too big
do you know how to fix this. Also is this ok to put in the wiki https://urlivewiki.com/wiki/File:Sexy_Neena_with_her_bikini_plate_armor.png
We haven't really discussed having NSFW content on the site before. The show itself does have adult themes and is intended to be watched by adults, so personally I'm ok with it. Perhaps you should put it in it's own subsection in the gallery marked NSFW so people can skip it if they want to.
by making a different page or make a NSFW thumbnail?
Ok so yeah, I got the GIF files working and everything else now works which is good. However uploading large GIF files slows down the server to a crawl and it takes literally like 10-15 minutes to thumbnail the GIF. All I can say is use some sort of image resizer to get it down to a reasonable file size before uploading. The convert I started a good 20 minutes ago has finally resized 3 of the 10 thumbnails of that image so as you can probably tell this isnt good. Its eating up 1.5 GB of memory just to perform this operation. Ive tried various ways to get it to work so smaller GIFs will work now but yeah just avoid it if you can.
Just to provide proof: https://gyazo.com/1e40015da71e2ac0035f3e22d6fec07f can you tell where I started the GIF uploade ^^
question how do i file size a gif it since i'm new at this
If you really want to upload them, I would google image resizer. A quick google search came up with this: .
how does this work?
I have know idea. My point is, if YOU want to upload those pictures then YOU have to be the one that does the work to make sure they'll work on the wiki. You can't just say "Here's what I want. Someone please do it for me." Personally I don't really care if those pictures get on the wiki, as long as they're put in the right place, not slowing down the site, or horrendously broken I don't care. If it's something you care about then you need to be the one working on it.
Also, just to be clear, you can totattly ask for help like ideas, suggestions, or feedback, but this is something we've given you technical help with and suggestions on how to make it work and now it's your turn to do the work.
the problem is i don't know how it works like how do a NSFW thumbnail, what size should the gif be but no . i got no guidelines or rule to follow this so you gonna at less show me what can be done and what can't be done.
Ok, then here's some guidlines for those things in particular:
I don't know if a NSFW thumbnail is currently possible without pluggins, but you could take my earlier suggestion and put the nsfw images in its own section of the gallery so it can be skipped
I don't know how to get the gifs to work, but it seems Plornt was finally able to get this gif to work. Here's his comment on the file: > "Converted GIF to image sequence and then made the image resizer reanimate them. It seems the bug is in the fact that each frame is resized separately which causes it to incorrectly resize the gif frames."
It seems to work and I would ask him (perhaps on his talk page) how he did this, and if it seems like something you can do then you can convert them all and reupload them.
Here's some other tips:
- Only create pages if you have enough information about them or know for a fact we are about to get information for them.
- If there's not enough information for thier own page, but they're still notible enough to be marked down, they go on a list. There's the List of Minor Characters, the List of Organizations, and we're still deciding how to deal with races, altough right now they're all just under Races#Creature Races.
- If you have a question about a bottom of the page templates like the ones we use for campaigns, User:IronClark designed most if not all of those.
- If you have a question about the infoboxes that sit at the top right hand corner like the ones on character pages you can ask me since i designed most of those.
- If you find a better quality version of a pictures you've already uploaded, don't up load the new one, just update the original picture.
- If you name a file or article wrong, just ask one of the mods to "move" (basically rename) it.
- If you're looking for someplace to help out but aren't sure where to start, I have a whole list of pages that need tweaks, updates, or entire overhauls. Just ask me.
- If you have any questions PLEASE ask me or one of the mods. If it's something you not sure whether or not you should do it, please ask one of us before you go ahead.
You're a fantastic contribution to this team and I just want you to be the best editor you can be.
ok but who are the other mods and the NSFW thing
The list of mods is linked in the Welcome post I put on your talk page when you first joined along with the rules for the wiki which I suggest reading and a list of Wanted pages and Stubs.
Iron Clark has also linked the mod list bellow.
need to add "the NSFW thing i might have an idea but i need to ask irokclark to make a NSFW page"
I meant simpling making a new section on Neena's (or whoevers) Gallery for NSFW Fan Art
you mean like offical art, fanart and NSFW
Yes. The Galleries can have many sections. So it could basically be:
- Official Art
- Puppet Pals
- Fan Art
I can even make a special NSFW warning like we have for Spoilers
ok let do this
