Now that we have heard some stuff from Taylors diary about their date system, is it ok that I made a time section, or should be erase that again 'till we have a more canon version of Urealms date system?
About this board
Just a quick page for anything you need permission for that you cant do currently or if you need something changed on the site that involves installing an extension or editing the serverside code. List it here and I'll get it done.
Time in Urealms
To be honest, I don't think that Time should be recorded on the wiki. Since the show is constantly evolving, there will probably never be a set lifespan of the races, and even then it would be relative to Earth years. We have no clue how long a day, week, month or year is, so we can't set up a calendar. I'm pretty sure that Rob included those dates just to troll the fans as well.
Yeah you're probably right, just wanted to tell you guys if you wanted to talk about it.
Rob has never liked to but a time on anything because it can cause contradictions later on.
In Rob's recent Behind the Scenes for Den of Devils, he mentions near the beginning of the video that he doesn't like to use time measurements for Urealms. He'll use 'weeks' and 'months' for the sake of the audience to understand how much time has passed.
Sorry I don't have a time stamp, I'm unable to view the video at the moment!
Beenu War Machine
I'm not sure how to relink pages but Beenu War Machine page should be relinked to Beenu Warmachine (Correct spelling)
Minor Characters and Dead links
I figured out how to redirect links so this is unnecessary.
In July the other moderators and I had a lot of characters that we deemed minor moved to The List of Minor Characters page but we never actually deleted many of there pages, so I've gone ahead and deleted the ones we've moved but this has caused many dead links that need to be changed to link to the List of Minor Characters. If you see any dead links please check the List of Minor Characters page to see if they are there and fix the link.
Beenu not Bennu
So the lore cards got released and it shows that we've been spelling it wrong, if you see any instance of "Bennu" change it to Beenu.
That's because there is currently no info on the Sherif class. Someone made a page and just spammed it with random letters, but once the info is released about Sherif in this upcoming campaign we will update it.
"Sun Furry Key" (Sun Key)
Hello, I was watching " Roamin's Band of Thieves" once again, and noticed the wiki does not have a page on the "Sun Key". Being that the key was the main goal of "The New Crew" and 'Roamin's Band of Thieves" I thought it would be appropriate to have a wiki page on it. I also noticed on other pages, it's never called the "Sun Furry key" At 9:30 on episode 8 of "Roamin's Band of Thieves" The Great Monkeyfish calls it that. I just thought that should be known. thx
We know very little about its purpose, or what it really is. If it reappears in future campaigns and more lore is established, then it may require a page, but at the moment, there isn't much to say. There are a lot of pages on this wiki that are 1-3 sentences long that probably could have just been notes on other pages, and I think that the key would be one of them. I feel it's always better to have a few long, detailed pages, rather than lots of short, sparse pages. So, for now, the info on the key can probably just be added onto one of the existing pages (perhaps Nisovin's or one of the Campaign's).
Sherif Class Page
The Sherif page is under-developed and wondering if anything was released besides the Passive "Law System" from Sherif Stoneheart whathisface.
Sheriff Hardrock, and no nothing has been released. We aren't even sure that the Law System is a passive. Hopefully it will be released soon! I am excited to see its abilities.
We know that law of the land is a ability
Pages with Missing Images
If you find any pages with missing images, put the link to that page here and I'll see what I can do about getting an Image.
Also any pages that have images without a transparent background.
Looking for moderators again!
So due to some circumstances (not enough time etc) we've had a few moderators leave us. I am putting out this message to see if anyone would like to become moderators. We're looking for people who have contributed to the site in a good way and can deal with being semi active. Its not a 9-5 job so I dont expect you to be here all the time, its a fairly loose position where if you see something that doesnt belong or someone spamming you can delete it.
If you would like to moderate, post in this thread and I will check over your user and add you.
Thanks, (PS big thanks to our current mod team!)
I'd be fine with helping out, if i'm needed that is.
I'm available to help, I check the wiki throughout the week, though I'm a bit more active on weekends (pretty busy during the week).
Thanks you! Added you both to the moderator team!
Hello Plornt, Petertwnsnd recommended that I give you a shout. I've been around since this was first made and have been knit-picky on details -- syntax, grammar, spelling, links, etc.
Hey, I'd love to help moderate if you guys still need a mod. Being given mod status would help tremendously so that I don't have to bother you guys every time I need to delete an image. Let me know, thanks!
This is me by the way, mediawiki likes to the log me out whenever I refresh the page :/.
Added both of you! Okay I think thats all we need for now. You may find theres not too much to moderate but it should give you some extra powers so you can do redirects and general cleanup if need be. If you want widget editing access (gives you access to HTML) let me know.
I personally am not going to be to useful with the tech side, but I'm going to try to make sure we have everything up to date and correct come November. That should really be the wiki goal, have everything done by November, because remember, we still are the only actual Unforgotten Realms Site that currently exists, and we want to make everything as easy as possible for the guys running this show to find what they need on the fly.
I fully agree Tescen.
For me, I haven't done much technical work, but have done a few HTML tutorials, it seems pretty easy. Unless you guys want to include java script to make this a major website (I don't see the need to), then I can do some HTML if needed, though I doubt I'm very good compared to the other staff haha.
Ya, My best skill is basically refining and being a modern bard.
I agree that we should use this hiatus to get everything set on the wiki. It's been a bit of a battle trying to keep up to date with all the content but now that there's a break it should give us a chance to get caught up on anything that we're behind on.
The most useful things for Rob and the guys on the wiki seem to be the character pages. Making sure those are as accurate as can be with solid information should be the top priority for making the website helpful for the guys.
With that said the most popular feature on the website for the fans seems to be the Card Creator. There's been a lot of comments about how it needs updating this seems like the time to do it. Now, it's much more technical than the other stuff so it will be a bit harder and will probably takes some time, but I think it will please a lot of fans.
I also think beautifying the website should also be on our to do list. Thanks to IronClark and Pillowkeeper the player pages now look much better and we're in the process of improving the character page right now. I think the Classes and NPC pages could use a little beautification right now since they looks pretty bland.
We also need to decide of the status on fan art. We talked about voting on it since we're pretty split on the subject and now that we have a decent amount of active moderators we'll set up a way for the mods to vote in a Moderator Talk thread.
(PS PureLemons your posts are duplicating again)
As per my spheal: Fully agree with character pages, I'll do my best to get some stuff done on that. The Card creator, other than pointing out things to add/remove I don't think I can be much help their though I can try if need be. Huge shout out to IronClark and Pillowkeeper as the character page style update was awesome, really the only thing I suggest is that we make that fully standard. As for fan art, could we not throw it all in the relevant images section and then hold a consensus if we need to remove one? That way its easier to get the fan arts out there while still being able to easily control them. One last thing I think we could do is to attempt to simplify everything. By this I mean I think we should have one page with all PCs, status, gp, and items. Just like one massive table maybe, it would probably simplify things for Rob when he needs to check stuff about multiple characters, but just the hard facts.
Ugh :\, duplication.
Alright, with Fan Art, I think we could potentially have a fan art section with freedom to post based on user name (Basically an archive, your username is posted and posting fan art will go under your username, so by clicking on a name, you can see all fan art posted by that person). Issue is, I have no idea how to write a system that does that automatically, and I have no idea if something like that is compatible on the wiki. Otherwise, players would need to do it manually, meaning lots of people may mess up, creating a lot more work.
You guys along with the rest of the new mods should make sure you read the full conversation we've already had about NSFW content and Fan Art in general. There's been a lot of good points made and I want to make sure you guys are all caught up before we go making any decisions.
Currently the general consensus is that NSFW content is ok, but we're somewhat torn on if Fan Art in general should stay on the wiki. The main argument against fan art is that the wiki isn't really for sharing fan art and that should be left to the subreddit. We were torn on how to deal with it and it was suggested that we hold a vote. It was then that it was brought up that we didn't have very many active mods to vote or help make the decision. Plornt then opened up mod applications and the rest is history.
I'll make a thread for us to vote in on Mod Talk but I'm not sure how we should vote.
- We could just vote in the thread itself
- I could create a Straw Poll that would allow us to vote anonymously and instantly show us the results, but that leaves the potential a non mod could vote
- I could create a Google Poll that would allow us to vote anonymously but wouldn't show us the results until everyone had voted, but this still has the same problem as the Straw Poll where a non mod could vote
I think I already stated my opinions in the thread and don't see why we can't just do it there. Saves everyone time and prevents any incidents.
Just to be clear, have you read the entire discussion we had yet?
The reason I talked about making a new thread was to make everything more clear. There's been about 20 comments in that thread already, many of which are pretty long. It's very easy for the votes in that thread to get buried among the other comments. That thread can/should be used to debate and basically give your side of how you think it should go, but another thread could be used for the votes themselves just so it's clear and easy to see everyone's vote and the final decision.
First off, yes I have read the arguments, and I do partially agree and disagree on both parts. Secondly, sure, lets just create a vote mod/admin only thread.
Are we in need of cycling moderators again? There only seems to be a small number of us currently active with the wiki.
I've been semi here, plan on going through this weekend and adding / fixing information and things that have needed to get done. I have been very busy though sorry for not being 100% active.
I am alive again. Apologies, I kind of vanished into the wind as the main seasons went off, but I am looking forward to transcribing large amounts of data with the rest.
Welcome back! I've been busy as well, after next weekend I think that business will die down a little and give me time to fix and edit a bunch of things here.
I'm back. Sorry I've been gone during the hiatus. Real life stuff took priority during while the Side Quests were coming out, but now that were getting to summer I have more free time for this.
Yeah sorry about my absence, but real life stuff sucks up my time. Summer should allow me to be more free and help moderate.
I just saw this pop up in recent changes and I know this is kind of out of date but I am willing to lend a hand in moderating support if there is any need. Summer has definitely freed up time for me, and I'd love to help make the wiki a better place.
I think you'd need to talk to port about that. I'm not sure if he's looking for more moderators.
Keeping the Wiki Factual
A lot of articles have hearsay or random speculation. It's not helpful for the wiki to be filled with theories and conclusions that do not have factual bases from the show. This is super dangerous, because me and the guys are slowly starting to use the wiki more and more for referencing and when we can't trust the wiki it makes it a much less powerful tool.
Please make sure to keep only things said in campaigns and whenever possible make foot notes and time stamps. I'm going to be slowly going through the wiki myself helping fill things in with knowledge I believe is canonical that has been referenced and cleaning stuff out, but it's important you guys do too. Speculation and discussion should only be in the discussion parts of these pages, reddit, and the upcoming forms, not on the main pages themselves.
thanks but i'm just responding to him since he literally has the knowledge and image for thoughs two subjects for the page.
I can't help you with the Dice Stats count. Some dice rolls are just going to be "lost" if they don't appear in a video as it's not like I keep track. Supporter Events page isn't really one that I think has a lot of value for the wiki to be honest. The fact that it has an "Approximate Total revenue this week" rubs me the wrong way and isn't something I really think we should be highlighting to the community. While I don't really care if individuals count up the donations during a stream/youtube to see how well we did personally, I don't really see what value keeping a estimate public record each week has for us. It's literally a page of spoilers and money numbers.
I can't speak for the people who update or look up the money side of things, but the Supporter Events page can be good to have if only to highlight what changes to the story the audience has had an effect on, something that is enduring and unique to URealms Live. I've created a topic on Supporter Events talk page to further this discussion.
also we need some of the images like [Dank Dungeons and Dragons Logo.png this] you have to fix in a better quality .
There is no official Logo MrHealix, and I have removed that campaign from the Campaign pages. Non-canon campaigns will be featured in the campaign page.
No I mean the back card of Dank Dungeons and Dragons you known with picture of the Minotaur saying Dank Dungeons and Dragons and treated that as the logo. if were going put in the non-cannon i want it to have a logo.
I mean. You want to use something as a Logo that isn't a logo. It just doesn't need a logo.
MrHealix, these types of discussions make it so I would never want to do something like Drunks and Dragons if they are going to bog down official lore. They were special Christmas streams that are not connected to URealms Live. Why don't we have entire sections of this website dedicated to Classic Urealms or the Escapist Magaine version? Aren't they important parts of history to this show? Why don't we have Dwarves vs Zombies sections or Pokemon Stream sections? Aren't they important parts of the history of this show?
The fact is, all my work is somewhat related to each other because I work on it. The point is we should make the wiki about the URealms universe that is being built and not a history of everything that has effected URealms. Dank Dungeons and Dragons is a footnote in the Lore of this show just as much as the original cartoons and other projects I have done are.
even those it a not an image logo but a back card design.
Please do not assign subraces to NPC characters. Keep in mind that for races like elves, not all elves would be included in one of the three. For something like Dwelf, it's very obvious they are a Dwelf because that changes their physicology, but clearly it's possible to be not a Nobleborn (someone born in a wealthy family) and also not a Spellblade (essentially elven marines). Also keep in mind that if a player picks one of the sub races, but it doesn't define their character, it doesn't even mean they are part of this sub-race. For example, Rick Snot is a spellblade when clearly he has nothing to do with Spellblades and at the time Coe picked this race choice for the Stamina difference.
I have seen some NPC characters like Gwnyneth be assigned a sub-race like Spellblade which while might make some sense could also be argued she must clearly also be Nobleborn because of Virgo. We need to keep sub-races to only player characters.
Alright, so for the most part, Elves' subrace isnt much of a race, but more of a possible alignment...I think I am using the wrong word there. But basically, the subrace for Elves are arguably only important to the stamina count and abilities to that player character for that campaign. Unless its Dwelf, which would follow the importance of Okagnoma to Keen, Hill to Tall, etc.
And I'll look to make an NPC separate character info chart, that removes stuff like gold, stamina and subrace. My only concern is about characters who became Players from NPC, like Dave and Virgo. Do you want us to treat special cases like that as PCs first, or NPCs first?
I honestly think Sub-race should simply be removed in favor of putting into the race. So you can be an Elf, Dwelf, Kobold, Porc, Black Boar Porc, Dwarf, Tall Dwarf, Dvergr Dvergr etc etc. We will break up the categories at a later date.
I guess what's kinda confusing is the term "sub-race". When I hear subrace, I instantly think of subspecies of a single race. (For example with Macaw parrots, there are Blue and Gold Macaws, Harrison Macaws, Scarlet Macaws, etc. But they're all just different types of Macaw).
This kinda comes into where each subrace gets their specific abilities. Gravehoofs can do two actions per turn, this seemed to be because of them genetically being gravehoofs. It's strange then to apply this to Elven social class, as why would a Noble Born have different abilities over a Spellblade if their only difference is their stance in society? My previous mindset was that Spellblade's where a different subrace of elf than a Nobleborn, which is why they differ in what they can do. (Just one example).
I guess subrace would be more of an ability tabletop wise in this case - which would make sense as well. I just think these things may confuse some people, so how it is portrayed on the wiki will need to be worded very carefully.
That's my thoughts on this I guess, I think breaking up the categories in the future will require some discussion on how to relay this information on here so that people aren't mislead.
My point is don't use gameplay reasons to justify lore reasons or you will put yourself into awkward positions with the wiki. Sub-Race doesn't need to be on character pages because in a lot of cases it's irrelevant.
When you guys get the chance, remove the link to this thread as a sticky. Clutters the front page with double announcements.
I believe Tdis or you only have access to that, I do not believe us moderators can change widgets and such. Unless I am missing something.
