Current Moderators

View Archive

Maybe this is better suited for a private discussion with the admins, but do we want to change up our roster of Moderators at the moment? One of our mods has been out since June 4th and it doesn't seem like they're coming back any time soon. Not many people have posted in the moderator request but there are some regular active users who seem fairly qualified if we wanted to switch them in.

Also, with fall approaching and school starting again soon for many people, do any of our other current moderators feel they won't have time for the wiki?

I'm not suggesting we move forward with any decisions right away, but I think we need to start having these conversations. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 02:36, 30 July 2015 (EDT)

20th June Lore Building Stream

View Archive

Just a suggestion since its been established that todays events on the stream are not cannon (yet), we could still keep a page for the stream with information gathered during it. Just as a reference ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 15:10, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

I created an page for Upcoming Content, categorized as non-canon with a non-canon warning of course, with sections for whenever we hear them discuss new ideas. This way, with future lore building streams, we wont have to have a lot of pages created, and a unified place for people to see things that were not in a campaign and maybe add it to theirs. --Clark (Chitter Chat) 19:03, 21 June 2015 (EDT)

Character Page Layout

View Archive

Hey guys, a few days ago Skydivizer made a suggestion to clean up the Character Pages to adhere to a unified and simpler "template"/style, because right now we've got different styles for the character pages from the Nuren campaign, RBoT, Porc Hunters and Dingo Isles. I recommend you check out his proposal, because I would like to have some more feedback about. Personally I find it better than what we've got now (because do we really need to list their race and class again when that's already in the charbox and the short description up above, and do we really need to say what Charge or Parry does on every users character page while there's a link to the ability -once again- in the charbox?). I just want to hear what you guys think about this. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 10:45, 15 June 2015 (EDT)

I think it's pretty good. I also think having the race and class reiterated a second/third time on the page is unnecessary especially since it's usually in the first line and the charbox. I think the reason we were putting the description of each ability on every page was because we started doing that before the anchors were in place to let us link directly to ability itself and not just the class page and we just didn't stop after we got the anchors. However, I think the belongings are good the way they are currently with a category for Items, Treasures, and RP Item since that information may need to be more detailed for characters who gain and destroy/loose a lot of treasure over the course of a campaign like Jo Krisstal. I think we should keep the final stats of the characters, like their items and how much stamina they can have in the charbox while information regarding on how those stats changed throughout the campaign should be on the page itself. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Moderator) 11:14, 15 June 2015 (EDT)
I personally would only list gear that was received/changed after the campaign started (Kinney's Studded armor, Kinney's Freeboot coat's), 'Artefact' Treasures (Winechesters Finest, McCoy's Behemoth Arm, Lieutenant Surge,...) and the Accessories, because those have some Role-Play value eg. McCoy's Compasses or other items that have some RP-relation (Merci's Porc Skin Armor), since the starting gear usually isn't that interesting (Flintlock pistol, cutlass,...). What I'm saying is I would only list special or interesting items/treasures/accesories/belongings. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 12:17, 15 June 2015 (EDT)
We should take a look at Rob comments and re-evaluate what we need and not need. Maybe we can make Character Page Sample or something? --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 04:01, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

This is pretty minor, but can we agree to only mark pages about the most recent campaign as spoilers? I don't want to over use it so people who are new to the series are afraid to read pages about previous campaigns. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Moderator) 11:26, 15 June 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, I was going to post a topic about this pretty soon as well, I don't really like the way the spoiler template was used so randomly around here. I agree that only pages about the most recent campaign should have a spoiler tag, but I would limit it to the campaign page, character pages and location pages. For example, Pot puppies and Glamour shark don't need this template in my opinion, because really the only way you'd get there is by following links on the afore mentioned pages. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 12:10, 15 June 2015 (EDT)
I agree. Race, Class, and Card pages should never be marked as spoilers. Basically if it's under "The Game" on the sidebar it shouldn't be marked as a spoiler. If everyone agrees I'll add it to Wiki Rules --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 13:27, 15 June 2015 (EDT)
I agree as well. New Characters and Campaigns should be marked with a spoiler tag. But as soon as Friday comes with character creation and the Behind the Scenes, they should be removed. --Clark (Chitter Chat) 23:13, 15 June 2015 (EDT)

List of Minor Characters

View Archive

As it stands now, we have a page for every character mentioned on the show. I propose we make a page for a list of minor characters that were ONLY mentioned. Such as McCoy's 'Grandfather' Ethan and Mike Jackson (I take blame for that one). What I suggest is that these minor characters should be moved to one page, like the List of Organizations page. This will reduce clutter as the show expands to mention more and more characters we never see as the weeks go on.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 23:17, 15 June 2015 (EDT)

Sounds like a good idea. I think it should only be for characters who are mentioned but never seen, like the examples above. I think they should be sorted by campaign unlike the List of Organizations. The List of Organizations is already a bit cluttered and I feel like a few of the things on that page already don't belong. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 23:45, 15 June 2015 (EDT)
Like what exactly? Note that I purely created that page from inspiration for the Super Mario wiki, which has a similar page. So I am all for changing how it is to fit our style, or rather make our style. We should treat both the List of Organizations and List of Minor Characters the same way, that way there is a sense of unity. If that makes sense. So what are your suggestions?--Clark (Chitter Chat) 23:54, 15 June 2015 (EDT)
A few "Organizations" could use their own page. While we have relatively little information about organizations like the Cult of Bones, Bopen's army, the George clan, and Gwyneth's Sunblades, we have very clear information about groups like the Theta Squad, the crew of the Bocoe, and Yumi's Theives. Each of those groups could have their own pages detailing former and current members, history, battles, etc. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 00:41, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
I can see that, yeah. Groups that the guys make should be their own page. I'll get to work on them when I have the time!--Clark (Chitter Chat) 00:50, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
I agree with you guys. A List of Minor Characters and giving the 'major' groups their own page seems like a good idea. Perhaps I'll work on it once I've finished expanding a couple of the pages we've got now. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 03:43, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
Rob has just confirmed the RadioactiveK's artwork of the character is official so we can use those for the groups. I can make a template for the group pages. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 04:04, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

Rob's comments

View Archive

Rob recently left some comments on the wiki. Here they are:

 • Layout
What I mean is you are making a distinction that doesn't need to be made. NPC and enemies are fundamentally the same thing, you're just decided what is what. I'm not sure you need to even list "Skeleton" on this page, because you just create a lot of extra pages to link too under characters. When people click characters, they want to see both the players and named NPC characters that have backstory, not just the general list of characters/races that were included. It will also be weird when you have a character in one campaign who is an enemy and in the next is an NPC. Right now the distinction is who was in battle which ends up almost being a list of combat encounters. I think it would be better to just make a completely separate "Encounters" page if you really wanted to have that. Like what are you going to do when I have them fight at a Zoo and they fight a big battle with 30 different enemies at once? List them all? I think you don't make a distinction between Enemy and NPC and put all "notable" NPCs, generally ones with names, in the NPC list. Basically characters that could be reoccuring. Then just remove "Goblins" "Porcs". If they aren't noteable to be listed under NPC, then they end up just being pages that get in the way of what people will be using the "characters" page for. For example, Whirlwind Brothers has their own character page when they have nothing notable about them other then you know they are Kobold and Brothers, but they aren't listed here. Yet Skeletons are? Eaglebear is on the list for some reason? There was an eaglebear in Roamin's Band of Thieves, but it's not listed because they don't fight it. I dunno just seems like two different things going on at once and detracts what the character page would be. You're already going to have indexing issues down the road with 4-8 noteable characters being created potentially each week just at character creation. Rob (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
 • Stamina
Stamina is a resource that's going to change and because cards/base stamina will change in the future, you will fundamentally have a problem tracking it. You may want to not bother tracking it at all, as it will only get more complicated and messy going forward. Rob (talk) 02:01, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

 • Until it has cards, it shouldn't be listed as a class imo, even more so when it's just an NPC "class". How do you tell the difference on what's used a Title and what's a class then? Seer is a bit weird since Deadbones "created" it, but I would keep that information on Blinkys character page that he was a class built up of other classes. I'll avoid using Seer for the near future. Rob (talk) 02:05, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

 • I think you should leave this because I can tell you now that unless there is a DIRECT link that one event takes place after the other, it's up in the air. Week 2 had a direct link and Week 3 had a lucky direct link that without could have easily gone anywhere. Since this is something we don't plan on fitting, it would helpful for fans to work on figuring out the timeline for us to naturally adopt unless we have some other plan. Admin ToDo

 • Guests
Can you guys downplay guests on the front page and in general articles? While guests may be part of URL's past and future, they are such a small part that I don't think it's important for the front page. I don't want to give people the impression they are something we really do a whole lot when it's not something we plan on doing much at all in the near future. Rob (talk) 01:26, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
 • Official Character Artwork
I have brought RadioactiveK on board to do the official artwork we plan on using for the website, so for your character profiles, you'll want to look to using her sketches until we have a good way to pass down the final products to you guys. For reference these are the portraits for week 1/2. She will be doing character artwork for the Nuren campaign down the road as well so we have it for everything cannon. Rob (talk) 01:36, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
Hey guys, I just uploaded RadioactiveK's artwork cropped and cleaned for all characters from RBoT and PH. Is it fine to update the character pages with these images? --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 07:33, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
Fine by me. The only issue might be how the background looks on the charbox background. But I think we can add a 1px border to the image from the template. Skydivizer (talk) 07:45, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
This is more a question for Plornt I guess but, would it be possible to have multiple pictures of the characters that you can tab back and forth between? The Ben 10 Wiki has a set up on the charbox so you can flip between the various looks of the characters from the different series. If we could implement something like this I'd love to have both their puppet pals version and RadioactiveK's version displayed with the ability to flip back and forth between them. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 11:08, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
That would be the Tabber extension. There is also a cleaner version called Tabs, but that requires a bit more work; however, either one can be used to compress a few pages down (and make them easier to view for the average joe). --Tdis8629 (Message me) 11:27, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
Thanks. Personally while I love RadioactiveK's work I think if we only used their designs for the character pages it would be confusing for people unfamiliar with the characters since that's not how they are presented in the campaign itself. I'd prefer to have the Puppet Pals version of the character as the default and have a tab to see the official character artwork. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 12:42, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
 • Character Abilities
I feel like it would be better if you had a way to show a characters class abilities by a thumbnail that linked to the character class page. I know that as time goes on, the cards won't always reflect with what the abilities could do at the time, but I'm not sure that fundamentally matters and is a small nuance. To me, you could make characters much more attractive with small versions of the cards that hotlink to the class page they are associated with. Rob (talk)
Just made a message on the Admin ToDo. What I was thinking was having something like this:
Obviously can make it more polished but like we have it so when you click on the card thumbnail it enlarges it etc. Might be cool to have icons for each different class too. Of course this would mean, to minimize content repetition we'd have to sort out a unified way of attaching meta data to cards, ie description, title and all that, possibly have a set out structure on the File page which it can then pull from and update the information. This would have the added benefit of making it easier to add new cards in the future as we could just update the card file and have it propagate to the relevant sections on the wiki (ie upload a treasure card -> auto gets added to treasures). It's definitely doable but just needs more information on how we should go about implementing this. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 05:53, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
Yeah, when I was uploading the new images for this week I thought: "Wouldn't it be possible to add the description to the file page and pull that into the templates?" Well, we do have the extension ParserFunctions, which I used to create the optional fields in templates. Perhaps with this it would be possible to do so. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 07:00, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
I mean if its not possible to do with our current extension set, I can code up a custom way of doing it for us. I dont think it would be possible without having to edit some sort of template somewhere, and then trying to load that description where we want it in the page would be a nightmare for site speed (as it would pull down the same template - causing database calls - and then for each different section that we want ie card name, card description, card gems would cause that same db call for each). Just trying to think of a way of pulling out segments of information from each card page without slowing the site down ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 07:15, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

I had a thought during this week's (Dingo Isles) Behind the Scenes, should we have a page/pages for merchandises that the Wizards sell/offer for free? Like The Blunderbros Shirt (which I need to find an image of), the new digital comic when it comes out, and such like that. What do you guys' think about that idea? If its a yeah, how are we going to format it? Several pages or a single listed page? The Halopedia wiki is a good example of the Several pages and the Transformers wiki I think is a good example of the Single listed page.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 13:39, 19 June 2015 (EDT)

At the moment there's not much merchandise, but I'm not apposed to a merchandise page. Since the merchandise is a relatively small part of URelams if we do have something I think it should be a single list page page. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 11:31, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
Well, I half expect a lot of merchandise in the future, so I am just preemptively planning. --Clark (Chitter Chat) 14:46, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

Pets and Sprites

View Archive

At the moment we have individual pages for each of the Sprites, however there doesn't seem to really be enough information for each to fill out a whole page. I think we should just create a list of "Pets" like the List of Organizations and List of Minor Characters for Ice Lords, Earth Lords, Air Sprites, etc. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 11:31, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

I don't think it should be Pets. They can also be enemies, so I think a page called 'Elemental Spirits' might be better. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 11:42, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
A single page for Elemental Spirits sounds best, Pets would be best for Woodland companions and the like if we get a surplus of them.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 14:46, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
Alright, sounds good. I know we don't have many Woodland Companions at the moment but we do have a few. While on the topic, do you guys think we should make a full page for Pause's Deer companion, "Robert Moran", from The Nuren Campaign? He was only alive for a few moments so there's not really a ton of information about him but we should mention him somewhere. Plus with the addition of the 3 pot puppies from The Jewel of the Dingo Isles and Deadbones pet wolf in the upcoming Many Gobos of Pat campaign we're getting more and more pet characters. Should we just have an Elemental Sprite page, a Woodland Companion page, and a Pet characters page? --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 18:11, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
I almost feel as if there should be a Pets that encompasses Woodland Companions, Pets (Pot Puppies etc) and Nimbuses. Sprites are less sentient and can be summoned and resummoned. But at the same time, do we offer the same distinction from Enemy pets? Does Fenris not fit the bill of "Gwyneth's Pet" or even the Gemlings being summoned from the Crystal Catalyst?--Clark (Chitter Chat) 18:35, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
I think a page for Woodland Companion Pets should be fine, but I don't think a Page that lists all Pets is necessary. Remember, every card that includes a Pet gem can summon pets, which means that basically any creature can become a Pet as long as Rob puts it on a card. Right now Gemlings, Elemental Spirits, Monkey Fish and even Skeletons can be pets, so I think that page would just be unnecessary. Woodland Companion Pets are more limited and focussed around a single category (forest animals) and might include creatures we haven't seen yet or unique creatures, so I think it's fine to have a page for those. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 06:07, 21 June 2015 (EDT)

Unforgotten Realms Live is an organised live group event created by Robert Moran, featuring the Buffalo Wizards and occasionally guests. It is based upon tabletop role-playing games such as the board game Dungeons & Dragons, with a focus on humor. It is hosted on Coestar's channel, and is currently scheduled to air every Saturday at 3:00 PM EST.
With 702 articles and counting.
It looks really good. I would double check with Plornt before adding it to the front page, but I think it's a great addition. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 18:13, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
Thank you! I'll just wait for Plornt to check it out and see what he thinks!--Clark (Chitter Chat) 18:28, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
Yeah, I agree. It looks fantastic. Really fits with the colour scheme too. Makes we wish I could work with CSS. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 05:56, 21 June 2015 (EDT)
Looks nice! Much better than what we have at the moment, I say go for it ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 04:22, 22 June 2015 (EDT)

Stamina on mobs

View Archive

Pillowkeeper made a question on the Admin ToDo page about the stamina of mobs:

I'm wondering if we are going to keep tracking stamina on mobs and if we are not, we should probably remove it from the Mobbox template.

I personally think that because Rob changes stamina from campaign to campaign and even on the fly, this field makes no sense. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 06:10, 21 June 2015 (EDT)

I think we should only count stamina for characters. Like you said Razor, Rob changes it to often for us to even bother with it. Main characters are much easier to track since we can count how much stamina they have going into the adventure and after.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 18:45, 21 June 2015 (EDT)

Anyone rewatching the campaigns at the moment?

'Cause Rob's got a job for us.

I have a mean favor for wiki people for UR Live, I need to know how many rolls each player makes per game.

Guess we could get some sort of group effort going on the subreddit or something? ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 05:08, 23 June 2015 (EDT)
We can divvy it up, focus on a campaign each. We might want to it, watch it all together even.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 16:25, 23 June 2015 (EDT)
I agree that we should divvy it up. At the moment Razorhead, IronClark, Plornt, Skydivizer and I seem to be the most active moderators and I suggest we each take one campaign. However, I don't know if would work with all our various schedules and time zones. Does everyone agree? --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 18:20, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

Nick's Additions to Meganzoor's Page

View Archive

Nick had messaged me on skype asking if we wanted to remove his additions to Megan's page but wouldn't due to his staff position. I thought it was hilarious, and that we should keep it in because it gives our people pages some life (they are kinda barren). But that is my opinion, so whats ya'lls? I'll give him the consensus after around 10 pm EST. --Clark (Chitter Chat) 16:25, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

Rob has already removed it. Rob put his explanation on the discussion page of the article. I wanted to delete it when I first saw it but didn't really know what to do with it because it was posted by Nick. I don't think we should put stuff like that on here it's just gonna lead to confusion. Skydivizer (talk) 16:59, 23 June 2015 (EDT)
Yeah that makes sense, like I said, I was just getting the consensus! --Clark (Chitter Chat) 17:01, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

Legorhin's Additions

View Archive

So User:Legorhin just added pictures to the Character and Players pages. While I like the Players page I'm unsure how I feel about the Character page. The main cast for each campaign looks good to the uniform style of each picture, however mixed with the game pieces and other art assets it looks out of place. Also mixed with the fact they did it without talking to anybody about it considering how major a change it is is a bit strange and not behavior I think we should encourage. What do you guys think? --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 22:58, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

While not a mod, User:Pillowkeeper has stated over on my talk page that he agrees that the varying art styles on the character pages contrast to much. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 23:19, 23 June 2015 (EDT)
Its definitely an interesting change. The alternating art styles is very distracting though. Perhaps we revert the change back, but when, or rather if, the website houses all the characters in their designs, then we can create something similar. However I do like the character page version. Maybe we can edit it to be in a table or such? --Clark (Chitter Chat) 23:37, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

New Talk Pages and Other Flow Stuff

View Archive

Okay so I just installed a new extensioned named flow which adds proper threaded discussions to talk pages. I did have a major mishap though accidentally converting all User pages instead of User_Talk pages to the new talk style which I'm 90% certain without a ton of database fiddling is unfixable. I am going to give it a go though. I converted Admin_ToDo to the new style too. Just wondering if we want to switch over to this for the Moderator Talk pages (We can either leave this here and just use the talk page under this name or convert this page into its own Flow message board). ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 09:59, 25 June 2015 (EDT)

I think we should change this page to flow in the future. But how does the patrolling work? Currently all flow messages (even from mods) are marked as not patrolled and I have no idea how to mark them as patrolled either. Skydivizer (talk) 13:58, 25 June 2015 (EDT)
Hmm yeah that seems to be an issue, I'll see if I can edit Flow to just auto patrol as I doubt theres a way of adding a button without a ton of work. Thing is, I cant seem to find the patrol button on normal pages either any more? Not sure where its gone.. EDIT: Ignore that, I was clicking on the wrong link heh. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 14:23, 25 June 2015 (EDT)
Okay just went on Flows IRC to see if there was anything I can do about the patrol issue. They have a [1] issue up for it at the moment but it appears we wont be able to patrol them until next release. I can set up a page to auto patrol them via the database itself but it doesnt look like this is going to be implemented nicely for a while. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 16:30, 26 June 2015 (EDT)
Hey Plornt, Flow is basically unusable for me. Don't know if it's the wiki or just me, but every time I want to comment, literally every time, the pages freezes for 15-20 seconds, then displays this error:
An error occurred while contacting the server.
Sometimes the comment goes through and it gets added to the discussion, sometimes it doesn't. My comments also don't always show up in Recent Changes for some reason, causing me to not know if I did or didn't post, thus double post often. Also related, the link to my talk page at the end of my signature leads to a flow page, yet it still displays red and says the page doesn't exist, even though when you click the link it redirects perfectly. Perhaps this is related too? --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 18:51, 27 June 2015 (EDT)
Yeah sorry Petertwnsnd also said he is getting this issue, upon further looking in to it, it appears this is currently unfixable until the next release comes out. I would say we could convert back to normal talk pages but unfortunately its a fairly huge change which would require a while to revert back. I am not sure if its worth just waiting it out (if the update isnt out in a week, I can switch to the latest gihub version which means the entire wiki will be on the "bleeding edge" (absolute latest version but untested)) or if we should revert. The red link issue is one I can fix however it involves running a script every so often (in this version) to update the flag that says if an article is empty or not. Flow is definetely the future of wiki talk pages since its made by the wikimedia foundation and they have expressed plans to roll it out to all new versions its just currently in a beta state.
Also to note, usually when this error occurs as you say the message has gone through, its just the inconvenience of your message not showing up without refreshing. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 17:01, 28 June 2015 (EDT)
Actually going to update now... Edit: Just looked at the user online stats, 10 people, will wait till it dies down a bit. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 17:06, 28 June 2015 (EDT)

My Return

Hey guys, I'm back. Sorry for suddenly disappearing four days ago, but I had to deal with some IRL things and have been mostly unable to even use a pc during this time. Looks like a lot changed during my short absence, though! If it happens again I'll try to notify you guys via my user page. Sorry for putting this here, but I didn't know of any other appropriate page where you guys would see it. I'll delete this header tomorrow to clean up this page. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 15:11, 27 June 2015 (EDT)

We have a Rules page for the rules of the wiki. I tried to cover everything I could think of, however I'm sure I missed something. If you have any additions please add them.

Also, as I mentioned on the Main Page discussion tab, I think we need to make the Rules more prominent. Alot of new users are breaking basic rules like not uploading Fan Made cards. I've created a Welcome I posting on new user's talk pages, but it's somewhat tedious and doesn't help un-registered users see them. Thoughts? --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 18:52, 6 July 2015 (EDT)

The Rules page looks great! Maybe we should put it in the top portion of the sidebar, right underneath Main Page? As for your Welcome, I almost feel as though we should have our own CoeBot to delegate that sort of thing as we continue to grow. I did read up on some bot information, but the coding is beyond what little I know. It will certainly help in the future though, I believe. Plus, if we ever expand to create this same wiki format for Lords of Minecraft or DvZ (BIG IF), then we have all the bot coding and formats to port over. --Clark (Chitter Chat) 20:32, 6 July 2015 (EDT)
I agree, the Rules would be easily accessible in the sidebar. I've been looking around and it looks like Wikia's (which we're not) have a welcome-tool extension turned on by default. I don't know much about extensions but it looks like that could do the job, however I don't know if they're any compatible ones that fit are needs right now. Someone who know's more about extensions than me should look into it.
By the way here's the message I'm using:
Welcome to the Unforgotten Realms Live Wiki! <br>
Make sure you check out the Rules before editing. <br>
If you looking for somewhere to help, check out Special:WantedPages and Stubs. <br>

First "Official" Bot

Welp... Seems the first (Second? according to the question confirmation, more on that in a sec) bot has made its way onto the wiki. Dbh has only one edit, and it is advertising a book. This brings up a point, though: What happened to the question confirmation that appears when you add an external link? I noticed that it was missing a few days ago, but didn't click until now. --Tdis8629 (Message me) 01:25, 8 July 2015 (EDT)

Should We Get Our Own Bot?

View Archive

I have been thinking about this very often as of yet, in that we should consider having our own bot to combat these new bots, trolls and such that have began to plague us. I'm not entirely sure on bot code or any of that, but from what I have read, we should be able to monitor its capabilities through the recent changes and even have it automaticlly add categories/templates to pages along with Pete's Welcome. I didnt think we should have had one at first, but I really do think we should start seriously considering it.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 08:23, 18 July 2015 (EDT)
