Possibility of a "Lore Introduced" section for each campaign

1
Azurillkirby (Talkcontribs)

An idea I was thinking about recently, and wondered about the possibility of a section on each campaign page showcasing the bits of lore, both big and small, that were introduced in each campaign. Things such as the species of animals that were introduced or locations visited, to small things like the magic forum being introduced in Sunswords, Kobold Rabies in Band of Thieves, or the traditional Donkey in Fall of Dundinborough.

If nothing else, I think it can be interesting trivia. Honestly, it could just make sense to make this a sub-section under the Trivia header, if not given its own section. Personally I think it could add a small bit of flavor to each page about each campaign.

Obviously this would only be kept to stuff that is actually canon and not stuff established because it was spoken by a character.

Though, this would be a significant change for every page, and I would rather run it by the rest of you before actually making any changes. There could easily be some massive problem with this that I hadn't considered, or possibly just nobody thinks that it's a good idea. Either way, I don't want to start rapidly making big changes without getting the OK for it. So I'd like to know how you guys think! :)

Currently, it is quite far to scroll all the way down through the campaigns, so I think it would be better to have this page like the supporter events page currently is

IronClark (Talkcontribs)

We are working towards getting that does as well!

CoconutM1lk (Talkcontribs)

awesome!

Will we create a new category for side quests?

Sorry. I didn't know there was one already created. And I didn't know how to delete a thread.

GentlemanTwain (Talkcontribs)

They are canon aren't they?

Rob (Talkcontribs)

Honestly, the Nuren and Drunk stream campaigns just shouldn't be showcased on the wiki. They have zero baring on world building and will just lead into future confusion. It's important to me that this wiki be useful for the Lore of the world, and these campaigns easily just get in the way.

Rob (Talkcontribs)

We should build a "Non Canon" page that can be linked to at the bottom of campaigns.

In Season 2, The Gobos of Pat will be made non canon and this is a trend we could see happen in the future with other paradox'ed campaigns. Because of this, it's super important we are able to unlike pages so that the wiki is used for everything canonically in the universe.

For example, the most recent drunk campaign should not have links in places like classes/races and whenever you make a campaign "non canon" it's important we go back and remove the links as well.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

Didn't you just say "it's important we break up the game parts away from the lore parts." so the The Gobos of Pat was a waste of a lore since that mean the donation event using real money might I added is non-cannon like Tri Wielding Kobold , Elaphelk and Medusa

Rob (Talkcontribs)

I don't really know what point your trying to make here MrHealix, could you explain what you mean by a waste of lore? Everyone has known for awhile that some campaigns could easily become non-canon as we go forward.

I also don't know what you mean by waste of donation events. The events went off didn't they?

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

well it is lore for the meta level since you started off as Dank Dungeons and Dragons (the prototype) develop into The Nuren Campaign develop even more by changing everything into the first season with adding new cards and changed that at the snake queen . Just staying cause all i want is a summary from you of the development from Dank Dungeons and Dragons to Urealms live.

Rob (Talkcontribs)

But that is a history of the game, not a history of the world. That's a footnote in the page about it's development, not something that needs to be mixed in with canon lore.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

however it's not about the history it about the info we just put up

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

going to waste

Rob (Talkcontribs)

It's not that it goes to waste, it's that it has no purpose on the wiki. I mean it's great that you guys kept track of something like every characters Stamina, but that is not valuable information to have on the wiki. If you are unable to deal with the fact that some things you put here end up being archived or deleted MrHealix, then you might want to reconsider how much you contribute to this wiki. I don't mean to discourage you or anything like that, but I don't want to bud heads with you either about what you feel is important information on the wiki.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

it not about that it about this we made a list and now idk what edit now.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

what to edit now

Rob (Talkcontribs)

If you aren't sure what to edit, then don't edit anything.

I gave a heads up about Gobos of Pat being moved to non-canon so you WOULDN'T be wasting your time MrHealix. If that confuses you, then sit out from doing edits for a bit dude.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

but don't forget to give the other guy who edit that to since my main edit are uploading and organize fanart.

PureLemons (Talkcontribs)

The to-do spreadsheet is to help us remember what isn't done, since people (myself included) can easily forget things. However, uncanon information is not priority, so don't focus as much time on it. If we keep uncanon information listed somewhere, (Like an uncanon page), then edits and additions to it may still need to be done, but they have low priority compared to the other info on the wiki.

Now Healix, no info we put up is going to waste. Even if work we do is deleted or changed for whatever reason, it was still building the wiki for the time it was up. But that's besides the point, the wiki is a place to give information about the world and story of Urealms Live, as well as how the game actually works. Information may be changed, but it doesn't matter. As long as people can get clear and accurate information from the wiki, then it does its job. So don't worry about the work you do being changed in the future, as long as in the present the wiki gives the information it needs to give, then you have done your job.

IronClark (Talkcontribs)

There is no use getting worked up Healix. Rob, we will go through and remove the content, but I would like to suggest that we keep the content, separate from canon of course, but for documentation purposes. So that way we can see how far along things evolved, and if "Thanks Jackson" from the Nuren Campaign shows up as a book characters at some point in time, it will be there. I just dont want to see all the work gone. But you have the final say, so you say chop it off, we will.

Emperor Emorious1 (Talkcontribs)

Why will Gobos of Pat be non-cannon next season? I don't know if this was brought up somewhere else, but I'm curious why It wouldn't become a campaign?

Rob (Talkcontribs)

I'm not here to post spoilers Emperror, just to give heads up to wiki guys so they can be somewhat ready for changes that come to the show.

Emperor Emorious1 (Talkcontribs)

That makes sense, sorry about that. I really enjoyed the campaign, mostly the characters, is there a way you could make it so the characters are canon but not the whole story in itself?

I could have sworn I remember seeing the Side-Quests on this page. The history shows no trace of that ever being the case, so it begs the question: Why are the side quests not on this page?

172.58.224.167 (Talkcontribs)

There is a Side Quests article page on the side bar, with all of the SQ campaigns currently played.

Superlmgpro (Talkcontribs)

I think it would be cool to see the 4 be very meaningful to URLive. Saw this on a youtube comment that maybe in a quest to slay K4 any 4s in the campign are automatic 1s, but then I thought it could ve cool if there was a rafe event in the campaign where bumbaly would get a crit off any 4s rolled on his allies trun. I was thinking this could be a neat campaign so the guys could just get rid of bumbaly XD,but the curse will still live on...

5ilver42 (Talkcontribs)

Where have we been obtaining the text / logos for the campaigns? Changes don't always come swiftly and want to be able to help if I can.

Tdis8629 (Talkcontribs)

IIRC, the logo is pulled from the Youtube thumbnail, then clean the background to make it more palatable.

CoconutM1lk (Talkcontribs)

I was wondering if it was possible to make the Season One Campaigns button a drop down menu, so you could expand/collapse that list of campaigns.

Follow up question probably for today only but where did the campaigns go in the campaign section?

Superlmgpro (Talkcontribs)

Yeah just checked the wiki someone edited it like today and idk where it all went is this some type of joke, is someone putting a new system for how to organize them, or was this some guys way of saying he hates URLive and is just being a dick about?

Trollytroller (Talkcontribs)

it was me

Trollytroller (Talkcontribs)

sorry mate

Iback (Talkcontribs)

Trollytroller has been deleting things for quite some time

Tdis8629 (Talkcontribs)

I just reverted everything back. Sorry for the delay.

Superlmgpro (Talkcontribs)

Ok just wanted to know where it all went and if it would return ,thx u for replying.

TheSilverRaven (Talkcontribs)

Just gathering some thoughts here, not entirely sure what to make of it... A steampunk city would be cool, but it may be either a little bit too basic or a little out of the theme? (I doubt that the later point is valid)

Petertwnsnd (Talkcontribs)

I don't really think Steampunk fits in with the Unforgotten Realms world. Steampunk is inspired by the Industrial revolution that took place in the 19th century, URL is more medieval or Renaissance themed which went to the 17th century. Steam technology is about 200 years ahead technology wise from what has currently been established in the URL world.
