Should player characters be considered NPCs?

I know that MrHealix has been adding the NPC tag to a lot of pages, and that on the campaign page for The Unseen Rogues Romulus is listed as an NPC, but should he actually be called one? I haven't rewatched TUR recently, but I'm pretty sure that he wasn't controlled by Rob at any point, only be Deadbones, and the same goes for Neena Brando.

There are many other recurring characters that are also listed as NPCs, like those in The New Crew and in The Silvermine Mountains, but again, these characters were mostly controlled entirely by the players who they belonged to.

Also, there are characters in the NPC category that I don't believe should be in there, such as Annihilus or Fenrus, who are animals that can't even talk.

In short, I'd like your opinions on what an NPC actually is. Is it any character that isn't one that is created by the players in episode 0, or is it specifically one controlled by Rob? Do they have to talk/be in RP situations, or is it as simple as being given a name?

well to be fair the reason is these characters were mention and show in not in their own campaign (as their story) but an expansion in different campaign as a side story (in their own side story). Like example how neena and romulus switch places giving them a change in life to more depth on dave's personality from just a normal soldier to a fan-fic writer. You see they are not there as npc because of they are not important but it there to show a small history bit within the main campaign.

But they aren't NPCs. NPC stands for 'Non-Player Character,' which is not true for either Romulus or Neena. It's not like we're distinguishing between 'main characters' and 'side characters,' we're distinguishing between 'player characters' and 'non-player characters.' That why I'm arguing that we shouldn't be listing characters like Romulus, Kallark and McCoy as NPCs.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

then what would catalog them when they are listed as npc in the campagin

B333 (Talkcontribs)

I don't know. But it seems wrong to put them in the NPC category, that's all I'm saying.

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

and i'm saying it's just a category that the charater was listed as. that all.

TotallyNotGabe (Talkcontribs)

Sorry to butt in but perhaps we could think about renaming the section for NPC's or we could add a whole new section for recurring player characters.

Jack Ironhide (Talkcontribs)

How about we make a new category! SPC'S! SOMETIMES PLAYABLE CHARACTERS! BOOM! PROBLEM SOLVED!

TotallyNotGabe (Talkcontribs)

Genius!

MrHealix (Talkcontribs)

BTW you guy read this list to do

Davrial (Talkcontribs)

They are listed as NPCs on the campaign pages because they aren't the player characters of THAT campaign. But they arent JUST NPCs, so they should not have the NPC tag.

Except Dave. Dave started as an NPC before Sunswords so HE should have both PC and NPC tags.
